Growth

No matter what we are doing, we are working towards positive growth at MN-TRI. When we work with our clients conducting therapy services, we are working to help them grow towards mental and relational well-being. When we work with organizations, we are helping them build capacity and grow in their ability to respond effectively to individuals who have experienced traumatic stress. Our research also aims to grow our understanding of trauma treatment in complex settings.

Competence

At MN-TRI, we hold competence as a core value. We strive to develop and maintain high quality services in all that we do. We believe that families involved in the criminal justice system deserve the same quality of care as those not involved, and we are committed to providing competent services to people no matter their criminal history. In our training and research, we hold this same value of competence; all we do is threaded with excellence and integrity in order to provide quality training and research services.

Fairness

Families involved with the criminal justice system disproportionately people who have been historically oppressed. MN-TRI wishes to be responsive to this reality and is committed to fairness as we seek to provide services to our clients. This core value also carries into all we do with our own interns and employees. We strive for a fairness within our own organization and when we work with our clients and partner organizations.

Collaboration

Our mission at MN-TRI is to heal the legacy of traumatic stress in families involved in the criminal justice system. This means we need to work and connect across sectors and disciplines that have traditionally been siloed. We want to be ambassadors pulling community resources together in order to bring about sustainable community change.

Sustainability

The work we do at MN-TRI seeks to provide sustainable change. While we are always looking to address here-and-now issues, our goal is to think strategically about how systems change over time and take the necessary steps towards sustainable growth in and across systems. This means we are interested in helping our families not only see reduction in symptoms, but to heal and develop the skills they need to be successful over time. In our training services, we think about developing education that builds capacity in realistic and doable ways. We realize change happens slowly, and we are committed to developing strategic plans to see that change last.
